How often does it sync?
Samsara, Motive, and Geotab sync with DPB every 15 minutes. Platform Science syncs once a day. A unit or driver you add in the ELD shows up in DPB within about 15 minutes. With Samsara, you can also click Sync Data in Settings > Integrations to sync right away.
A new unit isn't showing up
- Wait 15 minutes for the next sync.
- Check the Inactive tab in Equipment > Vehicles or Trailers.
- Trailers: trailer sync is off by default. If trailers aren't coming in, ask support to turn it on. For Motive, also make sure the trailers are shared and tagged correctly in Motive.
- Check that the unit number and VIN in the ELD are correct (see How units are matched below).
- Still missing? Email support@digitalpermitbook.com with the unit number.
Did the sync turn off?
No. The sync doesn't turn off by itself. Only support can turn it off or back on, so if you want it paused or restarted, email support@digitalpermitbook.com.
How units are matched
Make changes to synced units in your ELD. The ELD is the source of truth, and the next sync updates DPB.
- Samsara matches each unit by its Samsara ID. If you change the unit number, plate, or VIN in Samsara, DPB is updated on the next sync. When Samsara brings in a unit for the first time, it looks for a DPB unit with the same VIN. If no VIN matches, it creates a new unit, so a wrong VIN can leave you with a duplicate.
- Motive and other integrations match each unit by its unit number and update that unit's other details. If you rename a unit only in DPB, the next sync won't find it under the old number and can add it again. Rename it in the ELD instead.
Duplicate drivers
This happens when the same driver is added in DPB (for example, hired from Recruiting) and in the ELD with a different username. To avoid it, use the same username in DPB and the ELD, or ask support to turn off driver sync so drivers are only added in DPB.
For setup steps, see Samsara Integration and Motive Integration.
